Avowed: A Solo Fantasy Adventure – No Multiplayer Planned

Avowed has been compared to both Skyrim and Obsidian's own The Outer Worlds, but one key difference sets it apart: it's a strictly single-player experience. Despite initial plans, Avowed does not feature multiplayer capabilities, neither co-op nor PvP. While you'll have companions to assist you, these will be non-player characters (NPCs), mirroring the structure of The Outer Worlds. All enemies are AI-controlled; there's no player invasion mechanic like in Sniper Elite.

The Absence of Multiplayer: A Development Decision

Initial marketing materials may have suggested otherwise, but Obsidian Entertainment ultimately removed multiplayer functionality during development. The decision, according to reports, stemmed from a focus on other aspects of the game. While co-op was initially used to attract investors, the final product prioritizes a solo adventure.

No Co-op Mod (Yet)

Currently, no co-op mods for Avowed are publicly known. While future modding possibilities exist, creating such a mod would be a significant undertaking. Furthermore, Obsidian has confirmed no plans to add multiplayer post-launch.
