Atomfall Gameplay Preview Emerges Before Imminent Launch

Atomfall: A New Gameplay Trailer Unveils Post-Apocalyptic England

Rebellion Developments' upcoming first-person survival game, Atomfall, has received an extensive gameplay trailer showcasing its post-nuclear 1960s England setting. This marks a departure from Rebellion's known expertise in third-person action games (like the Sniper Elite series) and delves into the survival genre, drawing comparisons to titles such as Fallout and STALKER.

Initially revealed at Xbox's Summer Game Fest, Atomfall generated buzz, particularly with its day-one inclusion in Xbox Game Pass. The recent seven-minute trailer provides a deeper look at the game's mechanics.

The trailer establishes a bleak, alternate 1960s England devastated by nuclear war. Players will navigate quarantine zones, villages, and research bunkers, scavenging resources to survive encounters with robots, cultists, and perilous environments.

Gameplay emphasizes a blend of melee and ranged combat. While the trailer highlights relatively basic weaponry (cricket bat, revolver, shotgun, bolt-action rifle), it emphasizes weapon upgrades and the potential for a wider arsenal. Crafting plays a significant role, allowing players to create healing items and combat tools like Molotov cocktails and sticky bombs. A metal detector aids in locating hidden supplies and crafting materials. Furthermore, the game features a skill tree system with four branches: melee, ranged combat, survival, and conditioning, allowing for character progression and customization.

Atomfall launches March 27th on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass immediately. Rebellion plans to release another in-depth video soon.
