Seth MacFarlane’s American Dad Returns to Fox for 2026 Midseason

by Savannah Jul 24,2025

It’s making a comeback. Seth MacFarlane’s American Dad is set to return to Fox, officially scheduled for its second run on the network in 2026, alongside fresh episodes of MacFarlane’s other popular show, Family Guy.

The return of both series for the midseason is a homecoming, as they originally aired on Fox from 2005 to 2014 before moving to TBS until earlier this year. American Dad and Family Guy are key to maintaining a “strong presence” in primetime television.

“Leveraging our strong performance in key demographics and shared viewing this season, Fox’s 2025-26 lineup delivers bold humor, fun, and essential laughter,” said Rob Wade, CEO of Fox Entertainment, in a statement to Variety. “Next year, we’re doubling down on that commitment with an exciting schedule to captivate audiences across linear, Hulu, and beyond.”

Fox is rolling out bold changes to its upcoming lineup, including the launch of its new streaming platform, Fox One. According to a network press release, Fox One will integrate news, sports, and entertainment into a single platform, offering both live streaming and on-demand access to Fox’s full range of brands, with the option to bundle Fox Nation.

While American Dad’s exact premiere date for its Fox return remains unconfirmed, fans are eager to tune in (and hum that iconic theme song). It’s likely to be available on Fox One as well, with more details expected next year.
