The trailer not only reveals a new design for the iconic Xenomorph but also emphasizes the striking similarity in aesthetics to Ridley Scott's groundbreaking 1979 horror film, *Alien*. A notable scene takes place in a MU/TH/UR control room, reminiscent of the Nostromo's, where the crew's grim reality unfolds. In the trailer, a frantic crew member pleads for assistance as the Xenomorph closes in, while Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, coldly announces the escape of the "specimens," declares the crew dead, and sets the ship on a collision course with Earth. The trailer then shifts to a squad of six soldiers approaching what seems to be the crashed vessel, hinting at the impending doom they face.
The trailer raises numerous intriguing questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives his actions? Did any other crew members manage to escape the Xenomorph's clutches? Is anyone carrying the deadly offspring? And, how will the soldiers meet their end?
*Alien: Earth* sets the stage for a thrilling narrative, where a mysterious spacecraft crash-lands on Earth, leading a young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a group of tactical soldiers to uncover a terrifying secret that pits them against Earth's most formidable threat.
FX’s Alien series is set in 2120, strategically positioned within the Alien timeline, just after *Prometheus* and two years before the events of the original *Alien*. This placement has sparked fan theories suggesting that *Alien: Earth* might explore the Nostromo's departure from Earth or reveal how the sinister Weyland-Yutani corporation first learned of the Xenomorphs. For context, the recent interquel *Alien: Romulus* is set between *Alien* and *Aliens*.In January of last year, showrunner Noah Hawley shared insights into his creative decisions, explaining why he chose not to use the backstory from *Prometheus* for *Alien: Earth*. Hawley, a fan of the "retro-futurism" seen in the original films, discussed numerous aspects of the Alien series with Ridley Scott, but ultimately opted to diverge from the bioweapon origin story to stay true to the lore of the initial films.
Mark your calendars as *FX's Alien: Earth* is slated to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025. Additionally, fans can look forward to *Alien: Romulus 2*, which is also in development.
