Nightmare Crownless, a powerful Nightmare Echo in Honkai: Star Rail's Wuthering Waves, boasts increased Havoc and Basic Attack DMG. This guide details how to unlock it.

Obtaining Nightmare Crownless

Unlocking Nightmare Crownless requires completing the "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" quest and locating all four Dream Patrols within the Penitent's End region of Rinascita.

Completing "Ruins Where Shadows Roam"

Unlike typical quests, "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" isn't initiated by an NPC. Instead:

1. Open your map.
2. Locate the compass icon in the upper-left corner.
3. Access the Exploration Progress menu for Penitent's End. The quest will be listed here.

This quest is linked to "Quest of Faith," an optional quest requiring defeating four enemies in specific Penitent's End locations. Begin by interacting with the prompt near the circular arena beside the Resonance Beacon (located across the broken bridge in Wailing Ascent). This initiates a battle against a Questless Knight.

To defeat the Knight:

1. Lure it near a lit Macabre Torch within the arena.
2. Reignite extinguished torches by using Fae Ignis enemies.
3. Avoid using high-damage skills near torches to prevent extinguishing them.

Locating Dream Patrols

After completing "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" and "Quest of Faith," locate all four Dream Patrols in Penitent's End (see image above). While completing the Patrol challenges isn't mandatory to unlock Nightmare Crownless, doing so provides additional resources and Monnaie. Once all four Patrols are found, Nightmare Crownless will appear on your map within the ruins north of Penitent's End.

Utilizing Enhanced Absorption Charges

Remember that Nightmare Echoes utilize Enhanced Absorption charges, boosting Echo drop rates. Players receive only 15 charges weekly, so allocate them strategically if building multiple characters.
