Ys Memoire: Defeating Gyalva in Felghana - Tips
Quick Links
Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is a thrilling journey where players encounter challenging bosses that enhance their understanding of the game's mechanics. Although not as extensive as some other RPG narratives, the game is packed with intense boss battles that test players' skills.
While newcomers might benefit from some initial guidance, facing Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, requires a solid grasp of combat, abilities, and the game's mechanics.
How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
- Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)
After triumphing over Guilen, The Fire Eater, players will venture deeper into the Zone of Lava to confront their next formidable opponent, Gyalva. The key to simplifying this battle is to position yourself at either end of the bridge.
Unlike earlier encounters, movement is severely restricted here, with the bridge's platforms constantly being disturbed by Gyalva's attacks. Players must quickly leap onto Gyalva and utilize wind magic to maximize damage in the shortest possible time.
Overcoming the bosses in the Ys series, a standout in Nihon Falcom’s portfolio, offers a deeply rewarding experience.
Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, a remake of Ys 3, continues the saga with fresh elements, including Gyalva, a new boss not present in the original. Gyalva employs a variety of attacks that can swiftly deplete a player's health despite the simplicity of the combat mechanics. It flies around the bridge, often dislodging sections with its fiery assaults.
To tackle this challenge, it's advisable to upgrade Adol extensively before the fight. Aim to reach Level 21, which shouldn't be too demanding if you've been engaging every minor enemy along the way.
Spinning Attacks
Gyalva unleashes two types of spinning attacks. The first sweeps across a section of the bridge, causing the affected plates to spin upwards. The second involves flying over the entire bridge in a straight line, flipping all the plates as it passes. Both can severely damage an underleveled player.
To dodge the first attack, quickly move to the edges of the affected area. For the second, the safest spots are the ledges at either end of the bridge. Staying near one side ensures a swift retreat to safety.
Avoid lingering at the bridge's very end to prevent being cornered. Instead, maneuver around the bridge to land hits on Gyalva before retreating to the nearest ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches a fireball at the bridge, propelling the plates upward. While this attack can damage you, it also presents an opportunity to strike Gyalva multiple times.
Bursting Torches
The bridge's torches periodically erupt in flames, with fireballs passing between them. Getting hit by these bursts causes damage. Although predicting their timing is challenging, once a burst subsides, it's safe to traverse the area.
