Xbox Exclusive 'Ninja Gaiden 4' Unveiled!
The Xbox Developer Direct 2025 delivered a thrilling surprise: the announcement of Ninja Gaiden 4 and a remastered Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. Team Ninja, celebrating its 30th anniversary, declared 2025 "The Year of the Ninja."

This marks the return of the iconic franchise after a 13-year hiatus since Ninja Gaiden 3. Developed collaboratively by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, Ninja Gaiden 4 promises a direct sequel experience, retaining the series' signature challenging yet rewarding gameplay. The partnership isn't unexpected, given Xbox's long-standing relationship with Team Ninja, having previously published several titles from the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden franchises.

A New Ninja Takes Center Stage
Ninja Gaiden 4 introduces Yakumo, a young ninja from the rival Raven clan, striving to become a Master Ninja. PlatinumGames' Art Director, Tomoko Nishii, described Yakumo's design as aiming to create a character who could stand alongside Ryu Hayabusa, the epitome of a ninja. While Yakumo takes the lead, Ryu Hayabusa remains a pivotal figure in the narrative, serving as a formidable opponent and benchmark for Yakumo's growth. Yuji Nakao, Producer and Director from PlatinumGames, emphasized the desire to attract new players while satisfying longtime fans.

Revitalized Combat
The game boasts fast-paced, brutal combat, a hallmark of the series. Yakumo will utilize two distinct fighting styles: Raven Style and the newly introduced Bloodbind Ninjutsu Nue Style. Masazaku Hirayama, Team Ninja Director, assures fans that while different from Ryu's style, the action will remain true to the Ninja Gaiden spirit. The development team is blending the series' core challenge with PlatinumGames' signature speed and dynamism. The game is currently 70-80% complete and in the final polishing stages.

Release Date and Availability
Ninja Gaiden 4 is slated for release in Fall 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. It will be a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black: A Remastered Classic
Alongside the sequel announcement, a remake of Ninja Gaiden 2, titled Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, and is included in Xbox Game Pass. This remake expands on the original with additional playable characters from Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2: Ayane, Momiji, and Rachel. The decision to create this remake stemmed from fan requests following the release of the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection in 2021.
