Xbox Developer Direct 2025: A January Showcase of Games

Microsoft has announced the next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, marking the first Xbox game showcase of 2025. This will be the third annual Xbox Developer Direct event, following successful showcases in January 2023 and 2024.

The event, starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT, will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch. While initially rumored for January 9th, the official announcement confirms the January 23rd date.

Confirmed Games:

Microsoft has confirmed three titles for the showcase:

• South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (Contrast, We Happy Few). Originally announced in June 2023, a release date may finally be revealed.
• Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, targeting a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
• Doom: The Dark Ages: From id Software, initially announced in June 2024. A demo was playable at QuakeCon 2024, and a mid-2025 launch is rumored.

Beyond the Confirmed Titles:

Previous Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and showcased multiple games. Given this precedent, the 2025 event is likely to feature additional unannounced titles, offering potential surprises for viewers. The 2024 event, for example, featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana.
