Warzone Plagued by Game-Breaking Lobby Crashes

Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still in development, developers Raven Software have implemented a temporary solution.

This follows a series of issues plaguing Warzone in late 2024 and early 2025, including temporary server outages and ongoing reports of cheating and bugs. The recent loading screen crashes prompted an investigation on January 6th, 2025.

A key development is Raven Software's January 9th announcement temporarily suspending skill rating penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before Ranked matches begin. This addresses player frustration over unwarranted penalties caused by the bug. Penalties will still apply for players leaving mid-match.

Although this mitigates the immediate impact, the underlying bug remains unresolved, even after a major update in early January 2025. The persistence of bugs and disruptions to Ranked play continue to be a concern for players. Raven Software is actively working on a complete fix.
