Voltorb Spotlight Hour: Capture Guide
Get ready, Pokémon GO trainers! January's first week is almost over, and the next Spotlight Hour event is just around the corner – this Tuesday! With numerous events already underway, make sure you've stocked up on Poké Balls and Berries. This Spotlight Hour promises to be a double-header!
Pokémon GO consistently delivers exciting monthly events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the weekly Spotlight Hours, each featuring a specific Pokémon with a chance to snag a Shiny. Here's the lowdown on the upcoming event.
Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour
Mark your calendars! The Spotlight Hour runs Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. This week's featured Pokémon are Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, doubling your chances of catching Shiny versions of both. Both Pokémon offer significant advantages in battle, providing a powerful boost when extra damage is needed.
Because this Spotlight Hour features two Pokémon, prepare for a busy hour! Stock up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense to maximize your catches and shiny hunting potential. Clear some space in your Pokémon storage too; you'll be catching a lot!
Let's delve into the details of each Pokémon:
Voltorb (#100): This Kanto-region Electric-type Pokémon (Generation 1) is tradeable and transferable to Pokémon Home. Catching Voltorb rewards 3 Candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode with 50 Candies. With a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, it packs a punch. However, remember its Electric-type weakness to Ground-type moves (160% damage) and its resistances to Electric, Flying, and Steel-type moves (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark and Discharge (5.81 DPS, 40.62 TDO), boosted in Rainy weather. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits!
Hisuian Voltorb (#100): Also from Kanto (Generation 1) and shareable via Pokémon Home, Hisuian Voltorb is another #100 in the Pokédex. It evolves into Hisuian Electrode with 50 Candies, rewarding 3 Candies and 100 Stardust upon capture. Like Voltorb, it boasts 1141 CP, 111 Defense, and 109 Attack. As an Electric-type, its strengths and weaknesses differ slightly. Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type moves deal 160% damage, while Grass, Steel, and Water-type moves inflict 63% damage. Other Electric-type moves do 39% damage. The best moveset is Tackle and Thunderbolt (5.39 DPS, 37.60 TDO), boosted in Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather. Look for the Shiny variant with a black body instead of orange.
