No Man's Sky: A Comprehensive Guide to Obtaining Solanium

Solanium, a crucial resource in No Man's Sky, is exclusively found on planets with specific climates. This guide details how to locate, farm, and craft this valuable material.

Locating Solanium

Solanium's location mirrors that of Frost Crystals, but instead of frigid planets, it thrives on hot and arid environments. Before landing, utilize your starship scanner to identify planets with descriptions such as "Arid," "Incandescent," "Boiling," or "Scorched." The scanner will also directly indicate Solanium as a present resource.

Upon landing, employ your Analysis Visor to pinpoint Solar Vines – tall, rock-like structures with luminous vines. These are abundant in specific areas and require a Haz-Mat Gauntlet for harvesting. While on these planets, consider gathering Phosphorus, a key ingredient in Solanium crafting.

Farming Solanium

Once you've progressed in the Farmer's Agricultural Research mission, you can cultivate Solar Vines at your base. Utilize a Hydroponic Tray or Bio-Dome, planting Solar Vines using 50 Solanium and 50 Phosphorus. Hot planets allow direct ground planting. Expect a growth cycle of approximately 16 real-time hours.

Crafting Solanium

The Refiner offers several Solanium crafting recipes, most requiring Phosphorus (obtainable from hot planets or Galactic Trade Terminals). Here are the known recipes:

  • Solanium + Phosphorus (creates more Solanium)
  • Phosphorus + Oxygen
  • Phosphorus + Sulphurine
  • Di-hydrogen + Sulphurine

Note that all recipes, including those using Sulphurine, necessitate a visit to a hot planet. Establishing a Phosphorus farm at your base is recommended for consistent Sulphurine supply.
