Top 10 LEGO Games Ever Ranked

by Zachary Apr 16,2025

LEGO made its first foray into video games nearly 31 years ago with LEGO Fun to Build on the SEGA Pico. Since then, games featuring the colorful Danish bricks and their iconic minifigures have evolved into a genre of their own, largely thanks to Traveler's Tales' engaging action-platforming and the numerous pop culture properties that have been transformed into LEGO form.

Narrowing it down was no small feat, but we've managed to compile our list of the Top 10 LEGO games of all time. For those interested in newer releases, don't miss out on LEGO Fortnite, which has recently become available.

  1. LEGO Island

No list of the best LEGO games would be complete without mentioning the pioneering 1997 PC adventure, LEGO Island. Though it may seem basic by today's standards and its graphics may not compare to newer titles, LEGO Island remains a fun and nostalgic experience. In this game, you thwart an escaped convict's plan to destroy LEGO Island, piece by piece. With multiple character classes and an innovative open-world structure, LEGO Island offers engaging and comfortable gameplay. It may be challenging to find now, but it's well worth revisiting LEGO Island—just be wary of the Brickster.

  1. LEGO The Lord of the Rings

LEGO The Lord of the Rings stands out for its unique approach of using audio directly from the LotR movies instead of new recordings. This unconventional method surprisingly enhances the game's humor, as seen in scenes like Boromir's emotional death scene, which is amusingly punctuated by bananas. The game is packed with Easter eggs, such as an achievement for a haystack landing reminiscent of Assassin's Creed, and includes book characters like Tom Bombadil who didn't appear in the films. Combined with the familiar LEGO puzzles and action, LEGO The Lord of the Rings is a delightful entry in the series.

  1. LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures successfully adapts the not-so-family-friendly Indiana Jones trilogy into a playful LEGO experience. The game revisits the events of the first three films with a humorous twist on less kid-friendly moments. It showcases improved gameplay over the earlier LEGO Star Wars titles, with a greater emphasis on puzzle-solving and exploration. Like its predecessors, it's highly enjoyable in local co-op mode. Even nearly 15 years after its release, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures remains a standout title, almost worthy of a museum.

  1. LEGO DC Super-Villains

LEGO games excel at reimagining darker themes in a kid-friendly manner while retaining the essence of the source material. LEGO DC Super-Villains uniquely lets players take on the role of DC's notorious villains, a rare and bold move for a family-friendly game. TT Games masterfully makes these villains endearing and fun, appealing to fans without causing controversy. The inclusion of a custom character in the story adds a creative element reminiscent of playing with LEGO sets, which is often overshadowed by the focus on licensed characters.

  1. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes introduced an open-world environment, setting a new standard for LEGO games with its expansive Gotham City. While subsequent titles refined this concept, the charm of exploring Batman's iconic city in LEGO form is undeniable.
