Take-Two has revealed the sales of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) continues to defy expectations, selling an impressive 5 million copies in the last three months alone, a testament to its enduring popularity over a decade after its September 2013 launch. It remains one of the best-selling video games of all time.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2), released in October 2018, also saw a sales surge, adding 3 million copies to its already substantial 70 million total in the recent quarter.

The sustained success of GTA V is significantly bolstered by GTA Online, its consistently updated multiplayer component. Take-Two Interactive's commitment to ongoing content, such as the December 2024 Agents of Sabotage update, keeps players actively engaged.

Looking ahead, Take-Two has confirmed a fall 2025 release for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. Further additions to their lineup include Mafia: The Old Country, slated for summer 2025 release, and Borderlands 4, expected later in the year.

While concerns regarding potential delays for Grand Theft Auto VI are understandable, Take-Two's recent financial report reaffirmed the autumn 2025 release window. Similarly, Borderlands 4's release in 2025 has been confirmed, although specific dates remain unannounced.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged Rockstar Games' meticulous development approach, stating that, "Rockstar is taking a careful approach to the development process, which may require additional time, as was the case with the company's previous projects—such as GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2." This comment, while hinting at potential flexibility, still points towards the fall release target.
