SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Pizza Tower’, ‘Castlevania Dominus Collection’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales

Hello discerning readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024. Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, wasn't it? A flurry of surprise releases, too! This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's a welcome change. We've got news, a look at today's eShop additions, and our regular sales lists. The Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivered

Combining two smaller showcases was a smart move, resulting in a wealth of announcements. While I can't cover everything here, highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Effect: Connected, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I strongly recommend watching the video; even a quick scan will reveal many appealing titles across diverse genres.

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania collection emerged as a pleasant surprise from the Direct. This installment features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the notoriously poor arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside a vastly improved M2 remake. As expected from M2, this is a high-quality release boasting excellent emulation and desirable features. Exceptional value for the price.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired, fast-paced platformer makes its Switch debut as another Direct surprise. Conquer the five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to destroy it and save your restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will appreciate this, but even those without strong Wario feelings who enjoy platformers should consider it. A review is pending.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

The surprise releases continue—a Wednesday wouldn't be complete without them! Presenting Goat Simulator 3. You know the drill. While I can't confirm its Switch performance, I'm aware that more powerful systems experience occasional struggles. Proceed with caution. However, even poor performance might enhance the game's inherent absurdity. Ultimately, it's your call. Silly goats, silly antics, open-world chaos—your Switch may or may not survive the experience.

Peglin ($19.99)

While it's tempting to criticize EA's missed opportunity to bring PopCap games to Switch, I truly believe they made a huge mistake. A collection would have been fantastic. But, alas, it didn't happen. So, we seek alternatives, and for Peggle fans, Peglin is highly recommended. Already available on mobile, it shines on Switch. Essentially, it's Peggle combined with a turn-based RPG roguelite. A review is forthcoming.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft's approach to revitalizing its simulation formula? Licensing! Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story is a typical Kairosoft shop sim featuring characters from the beloved Doraemon manga and anime. The license is well-integrated, and you might even spot characters from the manga artist's other works as customers. Charming.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for the fans. Up to eight players can join via local or online multiplayer, and the "more is merrier" principle applies perfectly. Solve cooperative puzzle stages that demand clever strategies. Great for those who enjoyed the first game, but not significantly different enough to attract newcomers. And that's perfectly fine.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Hit the notes, follow the story, enjoy the tunes. Not the most sophisticated, but at this price, it doesn't need to be.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A Sokoban-style crate-pushing puzzle game starring a penguin. One hundred levels. You know if you're interested.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

More quirky physics-based puzzles, over three hundred this time. Utilize your character's abilities and drawing to solve problems. Up to four players can join locally or online.
