Superman Unlimited Brings Marvel Mainstay Dan Slott Back to DC Comics
DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series debuting May 2025, marking the return of Marvel veteran Dan Slott to DC.
Slott, renowned for his work on Marvel titles such as The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four, will be writing the series. While he contributed to earlier DC projects like Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and Batman Adventures, he's been exclusively with Marvel for two decades. This new series changes that.

He'll be collaborating with artist Rafael Albuquerque (American Vampire) and colorist Marcelo Maiolo. Slott expressed his excitement, stating he's always wanted to tell Superman stories, focusing not just on his powers but his character. He promises surprising storylines involving Superman, Lois Lane, supporting characters, classic villains, and new adversaries.
Superman Unlimited introduces a perilous new reality. A Kryptonite asteroid shower leaves Superman vulnerable to enemies like Intergang, now wielding Kryptonite-enhanced weaponry. This necessitates the development of new technology and fighting strategies. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, following its merger with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications, resulting in a global media giant.
DC group editor Paul Kaminski compared the series' impact to that of Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness's Superman/Batman in the early 2000s. He highlights the series' focus on large-scale adventures while introducing a massive new Kryptonite deposit, creating a world where even petty criminals pose significant threats.
“We just launched Justice League Unlimited in the fall, and Mark Waid and Dan Mora are telling a tale of unlimited Super Heroes in that ongoing series,” continued Kaminski. “In contrast, Slott and Albuquerque’s Superman Unlimited is a tale of unlimited Super-Villains that are super-charged by Kryptonite. Green K is everywhere. Superman is going to need to get to work and adapt to survive. Every line of Dan’s pitch is packed with surprises and every line Rafa draws is stunning… 2025 is truly going to be Superman UNLIMITED.”

A 10-page prelude will appear in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 (May 3, 2025), followed by Superman Unlimited #1 on May 21, preceding James Gunn's Superman film (July 11).
