Stellar Blade Dev Shift Up Posts Record Year, Sales of PC Version Still Expected to Outsell PS5

by Skylar Feb 21,2025

Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with Stellar Blade generating $43 million in royalties. The PC version is projected to surpass the PlayStation 5 sales figures.

Game World Observer reports that Shift Up's 2024 financial report shows a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million. A significant portion, $43.2 million, stemmed directly from Stellar Blade royalties.

The company anticipates continued success, predicting stronger PC sales than the console version, particularly within the Asian gaming market. While a Stellar Blade sequel remains under consideration, Shift Up will unveil its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025.

Project Witches, revealed in 2024 following Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, preempts any significant momentum for a direct sequel. Despite this, Shift Up has confirmed its interest in expanding the Stellar Blade franchise.

Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, casts players as Eve, fighting to reclaim Earth from mysterious invaders. The game achieved a 7/10 rating from IGN and sold over one million copies, demonstrating considerable popularity. However, our review noted that while the action was strong, uninspired characters, a weak storyline, and frustrating RPG mechanics held it back from reaching the top tier of the genre.
