Star Wars: Hunters to Shut Down Before First Anniversary

Star Wars: Hunters has announced its shutdown even before completing a full year, yet it will still celebrate its one-year anniversary before the final curtain falls. But is it really worth celebrating the anniversary of a game on its last legs?

When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?

The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game just nine months after its launch. Players have a few extra weeks to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th. Zynga, the developer and publisher, is rolling out a final content update on the same day, introducing Tuya, a new Support Hunter available for free. In-game purchases will be disabled on April 15th as well.

Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. If you have any unspent Crystals, make sure to use them as there won’t be any refunds offered.

It Isn’t Shocking

While it's unfortunate, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters isn't surprising. The game faced numerous delays since its announcement in 2020, and beta tests were limited to the SEA and ANZAC regions. The lack of major console support and a tepid reception contributed to its demise.

From a design perspective, the game missed an opportunity to capitalize on the rich universe of Star Wars. Instead of featuring iconic characters, it opted for generic originals, which didn't resonate with fans.

If you've uninstalled the game but want to take one last ride, it's still available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown date.
