Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles Gets a Jar Jar Binks Surprise!

Aspyr has dropped a bombshell: Jar Jar Binks is joining the playable character roster in the upcoming re-release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles! A new trailer shows the Gungan in action, wielding a hefty staff.

This isn't the only exciting news. While Jedi Power Battles originally boasted a diverse cast, Aspyr's updated version is adding a whole host of new playable characters. Jar Jar is just the latest reveal, alongside nine others, with more to come.

The 2000 release of Jedi Power Battles captured the spirit of Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. This modern update aims to recapture that nostalgia while adding fresh content. Features like customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support are included, but the new playable characters are a major draw.

The recently released trailer showcases Jar Jar's gameplay, featuring his signature chaotic style and voice lines. While some might have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding Binks, he'll instead be utilizing a staff. Jar Jar Binks will be playable from launch day, January 23rd, but pre-orders are open now.

New Playable Characters Unveiled:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's commitment to expanding the playable roster is impressive. The variety is striking, ranging from familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian to various droid types (Flame Droid, Destroyer Droid, and Rifle Droid). The addition of a second Gungan, the Gungan Guard, further highlights this commitment.

With the release date just weeks away, fans can soon experience these new additions firsthand. Aspyr's previous work on updated classics, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, gives hope that Jedi Power Battles will be a satisfying update for long-time fans.
