Sony announced at CES 2025 that its critically acclaimed game, Helldivers 2, is being adapted into a feature film. The project is a collaboration between PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures.

Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, made the exciting announcement on stage: "We're thrilled to confirm that we've commenced development on a film based on the incredibly popular Helldivers 2." While specifics remain under wraps, fans can anticipate spectacular space battles brought to life on the silver screen.

Developed by Arrowhead Studios, Helldivers 2 is a captivating shooter drawing inspiration from the classic film Starship Troopers. The game achieved remarkable success, becoming PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling title, boasting 12 million copies sold within its first 12 weeks. Its popularity surged further with the Illuminate update, introducing a returning enemy faction from the original Helldivers game.

In related news, a film adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn is also in the works, a joint venture between PlayStation Productions and Columbia Pictures – the studio behind the successful 2022 Uncharted movie.
