Silksong Is Real And Will Release, Reassures PR Manager

Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to make progress, as confirmed by Team Cherry’s Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin. Dive deeper into the latest updates and the swirling speculations surrounding this highly anticipated game!

This Is Not A Joke, Silksong Is Real

Confirmed By Team Cherry’s Griffin

Following a cake-related tweet that set off a flurry of speculation, Hollow Knight fans can now breathe a sigh of relief. Matthew "Leth" Griffin, Team Cherry’s Marketing and Publishing Head, took to X (formerly Twitter) to reassure fans that Hollow Knight: Silksong is indeed real and actively being developed. This response came after a fan expressed a desperate hope for any news on the game.

The speculation began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his X profile picture to a cake, prompting fans to wonder if it hinted at an upcoming announcement for Silksong, possibly related to the Nintendo Switch 2 or an Alternate Reality Game (ARG). However, YouTuber fireb0rn reached out to Griffin, only to discover that Pellen's tweet was a "nothingburger"—a harmless change with no deeper meaning. Fireb0rn apologized for any confusion, tweeting, "Apologies to have misled everyone. The cake was a lie."

Despite the false alarm, Griffin reignited hope by firmly stating, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This marks the first update from Team Cherry on Silksong's status in over a year and a half.

First announced in February 2019 and initially planned for a release in the first half of 2023, Silksong's launch was postponed in May 2023. Team Cherry explained that the game had "gotten quite big," necessitating further development to enhance its quality. The game promises to take players to a new kingdom, introduce nearly 150 new enemies, and feature a new difficulty level known as Silk Soul mode. Despite the nearly two-year delay, this recent update, though brief, breaks the silence on the project.

The announcement elicited mixed reactions. Some fans expressed gratitude for the update and encouraged Team Cherry not to rush the game due to external pressures. Others, however, voiced growing impatience after nearly six years of waiting, feeling that the update provided the "bare minimum" information about the eagerly awaited title.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will follow Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on her epic journey through an unfamiliar world, culminating in a perilous pilgrimage to reach the kingdom’s peak. Although no specific release window has been announced yet, stay tuned for more updates and announcements!
