Rory McCann Debuts as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka at Star Wars Celebration

by Nicholas Apr 20,2025

Star Wars Celebration has provided fans with an exciting first look at Rory McCann as Baylan Skoll in Season 2 of Ahsoka. Following the untimely death of Ray Stevenson, who originally portrayed the character, McCann steps into the role with high expectations.

Although we haven't seen McCann in action yet, the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration shared an exclusive first-look image that you can see below.

Stevenson, known for his roles in Thor, RRR, Punisher: War Zone, Rome, and more, tragically passed away from a brief illness just three months before the premiere of Ahsoka. Many fans and critics hailed Stevenson's performance as Baylan as a standout in the series.

Ahsoka series creator Dave Filoni openly discussed the profound challenge of losing Ray Stevenson, describing him as "the most beautiful person on screen and off." Filoni and the team also teased what fans can anticipate in Season 2, including the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, along with characters like Admiral Ackbar, Zeb, Chopper, and more.

In our review of the first season of Ahsoka, we noted that it "initially struggles to bring viewers up to speed on characters and concepts from Dave Filoni's animated Star Wars shows. However, once the series finds its footing, it delivers a compelling blend of rich lore, humor, and epic battles, capturing the essence of classic Star Wars while paving the way for fresh narratives."
