Rocksteady Reeling from Suicide Squad's Aftermath
Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs which halved the testing team's size.
The studio has struggled with the game's poor reception and resulting financial losses, estimated by Warner Bros. at approximately $200 million. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.
These cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also experienced significant layoffs (99 employees) in December.
The game's early access launch exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, server outages, and even a story spoiler revealed through a glitch. Negative reviews from major gaming publications and a massive 791% surge in refund requests (according to McLuck analytics) further compounded the problems.
Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
