The Pokemon Company Issues Statement on Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Shortage

The Pokemon Company has officially recognized the shortages affecting the eagerly awaited Scarlet and Violet — Prismatic Evolutions set, expressing gratitude to Pokemon TCG fans for their patience and outlining proactive steps to address the issue. This acknowledgment marks the first time the company has addressed challenges with this new expansion, set to kick off 2025 with a bang.

Announced in early November 2024 with pre-orders soon following, Prismatic Evolutions was scheduled for an international release on January 17. However, global shortages, including in the United States, have marred its rollout, prompting weeks of fan complaints on social media. Responding to these concerns, The Pokemon Company issued a statement to IGN, acknowledging the shortage and their commitment to ramp up production. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokemon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to acknowledge this," a spokesperson stated.

Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Reprints Are Coming Soon

Reprints of the Prismatic Evolutions set are currently in production and are slated to reach licensed distributors across the country in the near future, though no specific timeline was provided. While speculation on social media has pointed fingers at scalpers, The Pokemon Company attributes the shortages to "high demand" without further elaboration.

More Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Products Are Also on the Horizon

In addition to the reprints, The Pokemon Company has announced that new Prismatic Evolutions products will soon be available. These products were part of the set's initial announcement in November 2024 and include a variety of items set to be released over the coming months. Fans can look forward to a new Mini Tin and Surprise Box debuting on February 7, followed by a Booster Bundle and Accessory Pouch Special Collection on March 7 and April 25, respectively. The Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection is scheduled for May 16, and a Premium Figure Collection will follow on September 26. For those eager to test the new cards, the Pokemon TCG Live mobile game will start awarding Prismatic Evolutions cards from January 16, providing an early chance to engage with the expansion.
