Used PlayStation Portal Now $148 on Amazon - New Price Drop

by Charlotte May 23,2025

The PlayStation Portal has never been discounted, but savvy gamers can now snag a deal on a used one. Amazon Resale, formerly known as Amazon Warehouse, is currently offering PlayStation Portals in Used: Like New condition for just $148 shipped. This represents a significant 26% savings off the original retail price of $199. While a Sony warranty may or may not be included, Amazon Resale items come with the same reassuring 30-day return policy as new purchases. Given the demand, we anticipate these units will sell out quickly.

Update: The price has now dropped to $150.23, marking the lowest price we've seen for a Used: Like New unit.

This unit looks and functions as if it were brand new, with only moderate packing damage observed during inspection.

The PS Portal, Sony's innovative handheld gaming accessory for the PS5, resembles an extended split-pad DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen nestled in the middle. It transforms your PS5 into a portable gaming device, allowing you to stream games from your console at up to 60fps. The controller retains all the beloved features of the DualSense, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface in place of the traditional touchpad. While the Portal enables streaming even outside your home, a very stable and very fast internet connection is essential. Remember, the PS Portal is not a standalone device; it's a remote player for the PlayStation 5, requiring a PS5 to function.

Excitingly, you no longer need a PS5 to enjoy games on the PS Portal. Sony has introduced a feature allowing owners to stream games directly from its PlayStation Now cloud streaming service. This means Portal owners can connect either to their PS5 or directly to Sony’s cloud servers, with recent quality of life beta updates launched in April. Opt for the cloud servers, and you'll unlock a vast library of over 120 games, including titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Note that you must subscribe to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, but at $18 a month, it's far more budget-friendly than buying a PS5 and additional games.

It's worth mentioning that the PlayStation Portal isn't the only option for streaming PS5 games over Wi-Fi within your home. You can achieve similar functionality by downloading the PS Remote Play app on a mobile device, including other gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, setting it up is more complicated, and you'll miss out on some of the DualSense's unique features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy

"The PlayStation Portal has turned out to be the most pleasantly surprising device I've ever used. Initially skeptical, I found it far superior to playing on a phone with an attached controller. It offers an unexpectedly seamless experience. I appreciate the freedom it grants to play my PS5 games from anywhere with decent WiFi coverage, especially when the TV is occupied by my family playing the Switch. However, it's not a standalone device and requires a PlayStation 5 to function. The Portal's biggest drawbacks are its inability to connect to WiFi that requires a web browser login and the absence of Bluetooth audio support. Despite these limitations, it's the best current solution for PlayStation Remote Play. Without these caveats, I'd recommend it as a must-own for every PS5 owner interested in handheld gaming or competing for the household TV."
