Path of Exile 2 Endgame: A Comprehensive Guide to Rituals

Path of Exile 2 introduces four major endgame map events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. Rituals, a returning mechanic from a previous PoE league, are detailed in this guide, covering initiation, mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss (King in the Mists), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.

Understanding Rituals and Altars

On the Atlas, map nodes hosting guaranteed endgame events are marked with specific icons. Ritual Altars are indicated by a red pentagram icon with a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen map node.

Entering a map with a Ritual encounter spawns several Altars. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting the event, introducing unique mechanics or enemy types. Modifiers might include massive rat swarms, or areas flooded with life-draining blood.

Examine the Altar's modifiers before interacting. Activating an Altar unleashes a large enemy wave. Remain within the designated circle; leaving it prematurely ends the event with no rewards. Successful completion of all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.

Confronting the Pinnacle Boss: The King in the Mists

Among the randomized Ritual rewards, you might find 'An Audience With The King'. This currency item unlocks The Crux Of Nothingness, the King in the Mists' lair. Place it in your Atlas Realmgate to access the fight.

The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 Cruel counterpart. Practice is available in Freythorn, Act 1 Cruel. Victory yields 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Navigating the Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Atlas Passive Skill Tree includes a Ritual section, enhancing rewards by reducing Tribute requirements, improving rewards, and boosting unique currency drop rates.

Access it via the Atlas map's top-left button, located at the bottom right of the main Atlas tree. This red, five-pronged tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Defeating the King in the Mists grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, mandating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.

Notable Node Prioritization: Prioritize 'From The Mists', 'Spreading Darkness', and 'Ominous Portents' for increased rewards with minimal drawbacks. Follow up with 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for enhanced Omen and 'An Audience With The King' chances.

A Detailed Look at Ritual Rewards

Tribute, a temporary currency earned by completing Rituals, purchases randomized items (Favours). More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favour options, ranging from basic Magic items and low-level currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies as you progress. 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively obtained through Favours.

Omens: Powerful items enhancing other currency effects (consumed upon use). Examples include Omens of Annulment (specifying removed modifiers) and Omens of Alchemy (specifying added modifiers). Highly sought after, they are excellent trade commodities.

Additional rewards include high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.) from slain enemies. The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a Ritual-exclusive pool.
