Palworld developer Pocketpair is preparing its major crossplay update scheduled for late March 2025.

On X/Twitter, Pocketpair announced the update will enable multiplayer across all platforms and introduce world transfer functionality for Pals. While no additional specifics were shared, the announcement included an image depicting various Palworld creatures battling a massive Pal.

Pocketpair's Communications Director John 'Bucky' Buckley hinted the update will bring "a few little surprises too" alongside these features.

This development brings exciting news for Palworld's 32 million players who've joined since its January 2024 early access launch. The studio has outlined an extensive 2025 content roadmap featuring the crossplay update, an "ending scenario" addition, and other forthcoming content for the massively popular creature-collecting survival game.

Launching a year ago at $30 on Steam and simultaneously on Xbox/PC Game Pass, Palworld shattered sales and concurrent player records. Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe revealed the game's overwhelming success initially left the studio struggling to manage its unexpected financial windfall. However, the developer quickly leveraged this momentum by partnering with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new entity focused on expanding the franchise, while also working to bring the game to PS5.

Simultaneously, Pocketpair faces legal challenges from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who've filed for an injunction and damages alleging "multiple" patent infringements. The developer has responded by identifying the disputed patents and already implemented gameplay adjustments, including modifying how players summon Pals. Pocketpair remains committed to defending its position, stating: "We will continue to assert our stance through ongoing legal proceedings."
