Meridiem Games announced the cancellation via Twitter (now X), citing technical difficulties with multilingual European localization as the reason. While a user inquired about the specifics of these difficulties, the publisher declined to provide further details beyond their initial statement.

Fans have pointed out the game's troubled release history. Initially slated for a March 2023 European physical release, the launch was first pushed back to December 2023, then to March 2024, and finally to January 2025. Pre-orders on sites like Amazon reflected these repeated delays, ultimately culminating in the cancellation announcement.

This cancellation is particularly disheartening for European fans as it prevents the official release of the game in Spanish and other European languages. While importing a US copy remains an option, the cancellation denies many players access to a localized physical version.

Omori is a critically acclaimed RPG following Sunny, a young boy grappling with the aftermath of a traumatic event. The game seamlessly blends the real world with Sunny's dream world, where he becomes Omori. Initially released on PC in December 2020, Omori expanded to the Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022.
