Nintendo Switch 2 May Feature Joy-Con Mouse Controls

by Savannah Nov 16,2025

Nintendo has officially confirmed that players can utilize the new Joy-Con mouse controls on the Switch 2's Home screen.

Since the Nintendo Switch 2’s reveal, fans have been curious about the new Joy-Con’s mouse functionality. Last month, Nintendo officially announced that the Joy-Con can operate in “mouse mode,” allowing users to slide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to mimic left- and right-clicks, much like a standard computer mouse. Two Joy-Con can even be used together in mouse mode — one in each hand — or one in mouse mode while the other is in standard mode.

Now, more details have emerged. As demonstrated on the Nintendo Today app and shared via X/Twitter, the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls are functional when navigating the Switch 2’s Home menu.

According to Nintendo, placing the Joy-Con 2 on a flat surface with the attachment side facing down will cause a cursor to appear on the screen. “To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown.

“While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus,” Nintendo added, “[and] use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software.” To return to standard thumbstick navigation, simply lift the Joy-Con 2 back into a horizontal position.

It remains unclear how many games will support mouse input, but Nintendo has already demonstrated the feature with Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball title Drag x Drive.
