NieR: Automata's opening throws you straight into 2B's mission. After landing and engaging in some initial melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a powerful two-handed sword: the Virtuous Treaty. While you temporarily lose this weapon after the prologue, reacquiring it is quick and easy once free-roaming is unlocked in the next chapter.

Where To Get The Virtuous Treaty In NieR: Automata

This early-game weapon is conveniently located near your starting point after leaving the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To your left, you'll spot a highway above the nearest access point. Head towards the highway, using the ruins to climb onto the road. Following the highway will lead you back towards the factory.

Jump down to the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. On the left, you'll find another access point and stairs leading upwards. From this upper area, look to the left towards the destroyed bridge where you encountered the Goliath-class enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the edge of the bridge, ready to be retrieved.

Conveniently, your old body is just to the right of the sword, allowing you to recover any remaining consumables from the prologue.

Virtuous Treaty Base Stats In NieR: Automata

  • Attack: 300-330
  • Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide, sweeping attacks that deal significant damage to multiple enemies. However, its attack speed is slower than other weapons. Through upgrades, it boasts potentially the highest damage output in the game, provided you can adapt to its slower attack style. You can also strategically incorporate it into combos with faster weapons, using a heavy attack to supplement quicker attacks and maximize damage despite its slower speed.
