Mortal Kombat 2: First Look at Karl Urban's Johnny Cage
Get ready for another round of fatalities! A first look at Karl Urban as Johnny Cage in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 has been revealed.
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon unveiled a poster featuring Urban, styled as a faux Johnny Cage movie poster, complete with the over-the-top action typical of the character. The image showcases two motorcycles dramatically leaping from flames.
Mortal Kombat 2 serves as a direct sequel to the 2021 reboot, starring Lewis Tan, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Joe Taslim. Joining the cast are Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi, alongside Urban's Johnny Cage.

While plot details remain under wraps, the vast lore of the Mortal Kombat video game franchise provides ample source material for the sequel. The first film focused on Cole Young's introduction to the Mortal Kombat tournament and the enduring conflict between Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
Initially planned for a theatrical release, the first Mortal Kombat film debuted on HBO Max due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Mortal Kombat 2 is slated for a theatrical release on October 24, 2025.
Our review of the first film awarded it a 7/10, praising its "spectacular display of blood, guts, and effects-heavy martial arts battles."
