"Minecraft Guide: Obtaining Armadillo Scutes"
The Armadillo, introduced in the *Minecraft* 1.20.5 “Armored Paws” update, is a passive mob that inhabits various warm biomes. Its unique feature, the hard "Scutes," plays a crucial role in crafting Wolf Armor, offering a new level of protection for your canine companions. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to obtain Armadillo Scutes in *Minecraft*.
How to Get Armadillo Scutes in Minecraft
Armadillos can be found in warm biomes, spawning in groups of two or three. They have a distinctive defensive behavior; if approached too quickly, they will roll into a protective ball. To prevent this, players should approach them slowly and carefully.
The biomes where you can spot Armadillos include:
- Badlands
- Eroded Badlands
- Savanna
- Savanna Plateau
- Windswept Savanna
- Wooded Badlands
There are two primary methods to collect Armadillo Scutes:
1. Watch and Wait
Similar to how Chickens drop Eggs, Armadillos will drop a Scute every 5-10 minutes. This passive method requires no items or effort, making it appealing. However, it can be time-consuming, especially if you need to protect multiple Wolves.
2. Brushing
The more popular method involves using a Brush, which can be crafted using a Feather, a Copper Ingot, and a Stick, arranged vertically in the center of the Crafting Table. Brushing an Armadillo gently will yield one Scute per use.
In *Minecraft* Java Edition, an unenchanted Brush can be used four times on an Armadillo before it breaks, while in Bedrock Edition, it can be used five times. Brushes can be repaired by combining two damaged ones, and if enchanted, two damaged Enchanted Brushes can be combined in an Anvil to retain both enchantments. Possible enchantments for a Brush include Unbreaking, Mending, and Curse of Vanishing.
To successfully gather Scutes using a Brush, approach the Armadillo slowly to avoid triggering its defensive roll, then gently brush it to collect the Scutes. With enough Brushes, you can accumulate a substantial number of Scutes for crafting Wolf Armor.
Once you've collected the required six Scutes, you can craft Wolf Armor at a Crafting Table, providing your Wolves with enhanced protection.
These are the current methods to gather and utilize Armadillo Scutes in *Minecraft*, ensuring your Wolves are well-protected in their adventures.
