"Meet All Recruitable Companions in Avowed"
Embarking on the treacherous journey through the Living Lands in *Avowed* is a daunting task, but you won't be alone. You'll have the support of four unique Companions, each bringing their own flair and set of upgradable abilities to enhance your adventure. Here's a detailed look at every Companion you can recruit in *Avowed*.
Kai
Kai is one of the first Companions you'll encounter in *Avowed*. While you might meet two characters during the tutorial level, Kai is the first true Companion to join your party. You'll meet him early in the game at the port in Dawnshore near Paradis. Kai approaches you on the dock, and together, you'll set out to find the Ambassador and the Cleric. He remains a part of your party until you recruit three Companions, at which point you can swap him out at a Party Camp if desired.
In *Avowed*, Kai is a former mercenary with a compassionate side. Known as a tank in combat, he can both absorb and inflict significant damage. Additionally, his fire abilities are useful for clearing obstacles like cobwebs and roots, which can reveal hidden paths and valuable loot.
Kai's upgradable abilities include:
- Fire and Ire, Active: Kai unleashes a powerful shot from his blunderbuss, causing high stun and taunting an enemy for 10 seconds.
- Unbending Defense, Active: Kai regenerates health and boosts his damage reduction by 25%.
- Leap of Daring, Active: Kai performs a mighty leap, stunning and taunting nearby enemies upon landing.
- Second Win, Passive: Upon reaching zero health, Kai revives himself, restoring 50% of his maximum health.
Marius
Marius is the second Companion you'll meet in *Avowed*. He shares a history with Kai and can be found in Dawnshore. You'll encounter him at a bar, where you'll have the choice to either negotiate his release or assist him in a fight against some aggressive NPCs.
Marius is an adept hunter and tracker, which is reflected in his personality, narrative, and gameplay. His Hunter Sense ability aids in locating loot and crafting materials across the Living Lands. In combat, Marius utilizes a bow and arrow alongside daggers and can manipulate nature to ensnare enemies with Roots.
Marius's upgradable abilities include:
- Binding Roots, Active: Marius roots an enemy in place for 8 seconds.
- Heart Seeker, Active: Marius fires a piercing shot that always hits its target, penetrating any obstacles.
- Shadow Step, Active: Marius disappears into smoke, reappearing to strike an enemy with his daggers up to three times.
- Wounding Shots, Passive: Marius's attacks cause bleeding effects.
Giatta
Giatta is the third Companion you'll recruit in *Avowed*. You'll find her later in the main quest in the Emerald Stair Region at the Fior settlement. As an animancer, she practices a form of magic that's controversial within the Living Lands.
Giatta's animancer powers play a crucial role in uncovering the spiritual mysteries of *Avowed*'s Main Quest. In combat, she serves as a support character, focusing on healing, shielding, and buffing allies. While her direct damage output is low, her unique ability, Spectral Jolt, powers Essence Generators to unlock new paths and uncover hidden treasures during exploration.
Giatta's upgradable abilities include:
- Purification, Active: Giatta sends out a wave of energy, healing all allies by 25% of their maximum health.
- Barrier, Active: Giatta grants all allies a temporary shield that provides additional health for 20 seconds.
- Acceleration, Active: Giatta boosts the movement and attack speed of all allies for 15 seconds.
- Reconstruction, Passive: Giatta's attacks heal all allies a small amount.
Yatzli
Yatzli is the fourth and final Companion you can recruit in *Avowed*. She joins your party during a main quest in the Shatterscarp region within the city of Thirdborn, though you might encounter her earlier in the game.
Yatzli, like Giatta, wields magic but focuses on dealing damage. Her spells are potent, capable of devastating enemies, with options for both single-target and area-of-effect attacks. She's also effective at crowd control. Yatzli's magical abilities extend to clearing obstacles, making her invaluable during exploration in the Living Lands.
Yatzli's upgradable abilities include:
- Essence Explosion, Active: Yatzli unleashes arcane energy that explodes upon hitting an enemy, causing explosive damage and releasing Essence.
- Minoletta’s Missile Battery, Active: Yatzli fires a volley of arcane missiles that seek out nearby enemies.
- Arduos Delay of Motion, Active: Yatzli manipulates arcane energy to slow an enemy for 10 seconds.
- Blast, Passive: Yatzli's attacks create a small area of effect upon impact.
These are all the Companions you can recruit in *Avowed*. Each offers unique abilities and enhances your journey through the Living Lands in their own way.
*Avowed is available now on PC and Xbox.*
