Following the 2020 release of the unusual roguelike platformer, Mask Up, developer Rouli delivers a sequel that amps up the action: Mask Around. This time, players will experience a blend of run-and-gun shooting and close-quarters brawling.

The signature yellow ooze returns, but with some unexpected new gameplay twists. While the original Mask Up focused primarily on 2D brawling, Mask Around integrates 2D shooting mechanics, offering players the choice between ranged combat and melee attacks using their goo powers. Managing the limited supply of yellow ooze remains crucial, especially during boss battles.

A Refined Formula

Currently available on Google Play (with no iOS release announced yet), Mask Around appears to be a significant improvement over its predecessor. It retains the core gameplay of Mask Up but adds substantial depth with the new shooting mechanics. Strategic use of both ranged and melee combat is key, especially when the ooze supply runs low. The visuals also boast a noticeable polish.
