How Doctor Doom 2099 Works in Marvel Snap

Doctor Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card." These DoomBot 2099s (also 4-cost, 2-power) provide an ongoing buff: "Ongoing: Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power." Crucially, this buff applies to both DoomBot 2099s and regular Doctor Doom.

The strategy revolves around playing exactly one card per turn after summoning Doom 2099. Early placement maximizes the number of DoomBots, potentially generating significant power. Combining him with cards like Magik extends the game, further amplifying his impact. Ideally, Doom 2099 acts as a 4-cost, 17-power card (or more, with early plays or Magik).

However, two weaknesses exist. First, the random placement of DoomBots can backfire, potentially handing locations to your opponent. Second, Enchantress (recently buffed) completely negates the DoomBot power boost.

Best Doctor Doom 2099 Decks in Marvel Snap

Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement synergizes well with Spectrum Ongoing decks. Here's an example:

Ant-Man, Goose, Psylocke, Captain America, Cosmo, Electro, Doom 2099, Wong, Klaw, Doctor Doom, Spectrum, Onslaught [Untapped List Link]

This budget-friendly deck (only Doom 2099 is a Series 5 card) offers flexibility. Early Doom 2099 placement (aided by Psylocke or Electro) maximizes power. Alternatively, focus on spreading Doctor Doom's power, or utilizing Spectrum's buffs. Cosmo protects against Enchantress.

Another effective strategy involves Patriot-style decks:

Ant-Man, Zabu, Dazzler, Mister Sinister, Patriot, Brood, Doom 2099, Super Skrull, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum [Untapped List Link]

This inexpensive deck (again, only Doom 2099 is Series 5) uses Patriot's power generation, complemented by Doom 2099. Zabu discounts 4-cost cards, providing backup if Patriot fails. Strategic skipping of DoomBot spawns allows for stronger final turns. Super Skrull counters other Doom 2099 decks, but the deck remains vulnerable to Enchantress.

Is Doctor Doom 2099 Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

While Daken and Miek (released alongside Doom 2099) are relatively weak, Doctor Doom 2099 is a worthwhile investment. His power and deck-building flexibility suggest a strong meta presence. Use Collector's Tokens if possible, but don't hesitate to acquire him this month. He's likely to become one of Marvel Snap's most impactful cards, barring nerfs.
