New Heroes Every Month

Marvel Rivals Now Releasing New Heroes Every Month Starting Season 3

In a bid to keep the game as dynamic and engaging as it was at launch, NetEase has announced a thrilling update for Marvel Rivals. Starting from Season 3, the game will see a new hero released each month, moving away from the initial plan of two heroes per season. This exciting news was shared by Marvel Rivals' Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong during the Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4, along with details on upcoming seasonal adjustments.

To maintain the game's momentum, the developers have decided to shorten the length of each season from three months to two. Guangguang explained, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month."

Guangguang also noted the pressure from social media feedback to keep the game exciting, saying, "During this time, several discussions on social media have certainly added some pressure on us to keep the game as exciting as it has been since December." The team is also considering introducing new game modes to further enrich the player experience, which could lead to the addition of up to 12 new heroes annually.

Balancing these frequent hero releases will be challenging, but Guangguang highlighted the team's strategy in an interview with PC Gamer on March 14, emphasizing the use of key metric data like pick rates, win rates, and ability stats to inform their balancing efforts.

The Hellfire Gala, inspired by Marvel’s elite social club, the Hellfire Club, promises lavish festivities. The season trailer teases new skins for characters like Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther, all dressed in elegant formal wear.
