Marvel Rivals follows the footsteps of Overwatch with its Spring Festival event

Marvel Rivals is launching a major Spring Festival event this Thursday! Get ready for a free Star-Lord costume and a brand-new game mode: Clash of Dancing Lions.

In this 3v3 mode, teams battle to score a ball in their opponent's goal. While the gameplay might remind some of Rocket League, it bears a closer resemblance to Overwatch's Lucioball – a similarly themed mode from Overwatch's early days.

This comparison is noteworthy. Marvel Rivals is currently outperforming Overwatch and needs to establish its unique identity. Launching a major event with a game mode so reminiscent of Overwatch's first special event is a curious choice, albeit with a distinct Chinese New Year theme instead of an Olympic Games theme.

The good news? The Spring Festival event begins very soon!
