On March 7th, 2025, Tripwire Interactive, the developer behind Killing Floor 3 (KF3), took to the game's official Bluesky account to announce the delay. Originally set to launch on March 25th, the release has been pushed back to an undetermined date later in 2025 due to feedback from the recent closed beta.
In their statement, Tripwire expressed their commitment to enhancing the game, stating, "We’ve decided to postpone Killing Floor 3’s launch to later in 2025. Our closed beta feedback showed us that we need to refine the game to meet the high standards and core experience that our community expects. We're focusing on improving performance and stability, refining the UI/UX, adjusting lighting, and enhancing the weapon feel."
The community's response on social media was vocal, with many players feeling that the beta was "clunky and unpolished," and some even called it a "glitch-filled mess." On Reddit, user Captain_Pugman expressed disappointment, saying, "KF3 seems to have lost its essence, trying to be everything but a true Killing Floor experience." Many fans lamented the shift from traditional horror to a more futuristic sci-fi setting, and the restriction on choosing characters and classes separately during the beta.
Tripwire remains optimistic, promising fans, "We are eager to showcase a refined version of Killing Floor 3. We'll keep you updated on our progress and thank you for your ongoing support and patience."
Pre-Orders Will Be Refunded Automatically Except For Steam
In light of the delay, Senior Community Manager Yoshiro from Tripwire Interactive provided clarity on the pre-order situation on the game's forums. He explained that once the delay is updated across all platforms, the refund process will commence.
For users on PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Game Store, pre-orders will be automatically canceled and refunded. However, U.S. PlayStation users will have the option to either cancel and get a refund or retain their pre-order for the new release date. If no action is taken within a specified timeframe, the order will be automatically canceled and refunded.
Steam users must manually cancel their pre-orders and initiate a refund request through Steam's support system. Those who pre-ordered through other third-party vendors will need to follow the refund policies of those specific platforms.
