When Is the Splitgate 2 Open Alpha Test?

Surprise-announced during February's PlayStation State of Play, a new trailer revealed the Open Alpha Test will run from February 27th to March 2nd, 2025, on consoles and PC.

How to Play Splitgate 2's Open Alpha Test

This is an open test, meaning anyone can join! Starting February 27th:

1. Head to your preferred digital storefront (Steam, PlayStation Store, etc.).
2. Search for Splitgate 2.
3. Download the Crossplay Alpha Test.

What to Expect in Splitgate 2's Open Alpha Test

According to 1047 Games' Lead Writer, Nate Dern (via the PlayStation Blog), the Open Alpha will feature crossplay and a brand-new 24-player mode: Multi-Team Portal Warfare. Three teams of eight will battle across Splitgate's largest map yet, experimenting with new weapons, perks, and equipment.

The core gameplay revolves around the series' signature portal mechanics, allowing for creative and chaotic outplays. While new classes (or factions) with unique abilities will be introduced, the beloved portal mechanic remains central. Dern emphasizes that player feedback has heavily influenced the game's development, aiming to create a defining FPS experience.
