Infinity Nikki Fans Protest Update, Threaten Boycott

by Caleb Apr 07,2026

Infinity Nikki is now available on Steam alongside its multiplayer-focused 1.5 update, but the launch has been accompanied by a flurry of controversy.

After months of exclusivity on the Epic Games Store, Infold Games' stylish fashion adventure finally arrived on Valve's platform yesterday. Instead of a celebration, however, players were met with a cascade of technical problems, confusing design choices, and highly demanding outfit requirements. The developers have since issued an apology and promised compensation, but the community's concerns are far from resolved.

PC players eagerly logging into the Steam release encountered a range of technical issues, from game crashes preventing startup to general instability. While launch problems are not uncommon, players quickly identified issues that went beyond performance.

Two new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, each require collecting 11 individual pieces. This means players may need to spend significant time and resources—up to 220 pulls—to complete a set. This unexpected increase from the usual requirements has sparked fears that future outfits will follow this more demanding pattern.

Further confusion arose when Infold extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event from two weeks to three without clear communication. As technical issues persisted and monetization practices appeared to become more aggressive, members of the Chinese player base voiced their frustrations on social platform RedNote. This discontent rapidly grew into a organized movement, with players worldwide calling for a boycott of the Steam version, negative reviews, and even uninstalling the game across all platforms.

Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players.“

“I want to remind everyone that a significant number of Chinese Infinity Nikki stylists are pledging not to spend or pull on the new banners,” Reddit user kiaxxl explained in a call-to-action post published earlier today. “For gacha games, the success of new content is typically measured by its initial performance. By temporarily withholding pulls, we can send a clear message that we want Infinity Nikki to stay fun and fair for everyone.”

The strategic response from the community has already yielded results. The game currently holds a "Mixed" rating on Steam, with many reviews advising potential players to wait until the developers address the ongoing issues.

The growing boycott eventually prompted Infold to release an apology letter through its official channels. The message confirms that many major technical issues have been resolved and promises better communication about future updates.

“Thank you again for your support,” the statement reads. “We recognize our shortcomings, but it's your continued companionship that drives Nikki to push the boundaries of imagination. Please give us another chance to let Nikki’s starlight continue shining for everyone, and we assure you our commitment remains sincere.”

The apology included specific changes: the Mira Crown event will now end on May 16, with the next season starting immediately. Players will also receive compensation including 10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds. While this represents progress, many feel it falls short of the comprehensive changes they were hoping for.

While some view Infold's response as a victory, others remain concerned about the decision to maintain the 11-piece structure for new outfits. Furthermore, despite promises of improved communication, the studio has indicated that some future five-star outfits will still require 11 pieces.

The Infinity Nikki community has acknowledged the quick response they helped catalyze, even if the outcome isn't precisely what they sought. Now, organizers are urging continued pressure to achieve further changes.

“Consider this,” noted Reddit user EdensAsmr, “Chinese players are warning that if we accept the 11-piece outfits and current pity system as they are, most new five-star sets will likely require 11 pieces. Imagine if every major update features two such banners. That would mean saving even more resources, and the 70-80 pulls typically earned per update would be completely insufficient.”
