"Guide to Earning the Shooting Star Trophy in Monster Hunter Wilds"
In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, while most achievements focus on taking down colossal beasts, one unique challenge requires you to hunt for the tiniest of creatures. Here's a detailed guide on unlocking the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement, which involves capturing the elusive Sandstar.
How to Unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds
The 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement is unique in its simplicity yet elusiveness. It's easy to miss if you're not actively searching for it. To unlock this achievement, you'll need to capture the Sandstar, a small desert mouse-like creature with glimmering fur, found exclusively at night in the **Windward Plains**.
Since the Windward Plains are typically explored during the day in the game's story, you'll need to wait until nightfall. Here are two ways to pass time until night:
- Fast Travel: Available early in the game once you unlock different fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Use your interactive map to fast travel between points until nightfall.
- Rest: After completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content, you can rest at a base or pop-up camp. Use your Guild Points to choose the time of day (Morning, Daytime, Evening, or Nighttime) and environmental conditions (No Change, Fallow, Plenty, or Inclemency).
How to Catch Sandstar in Monster Hunter Wilds
The Sandstar is not only small but also incredibly fast. To increase your chances of capturing it, gather **Screamer Pods** from **Baunos**, small red-bodied winged monsters found in groups around **Area 11** and **Area 13** of the Windward Plains. These creatures are scavengers, so you can hunt them near carcasses to collect Screamer Pods.
Once night falls in the Windward Plains, head to the midpoint between Area 11 and Area 13. Keep a sharp lookout for the Sandstar. When you spot it, chase it at full speed and use a Screamer Pod to stun it. Immediately switch to your **Capture Net** (used also for fishing) and throw it at the stunned Sandstar to capture it. Successfully capturing the Sandstar will unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement and reward you with the **Ribbon Dream: Amber** nameplate for your Hunter Profile.
This guide covers everything you need to know to get the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and guides, be sure to explore our other content, including how to skip cutscenes.
