Gotham Knights: A Potential Nintendo Switch 2 Title?

Recent speculation suggests that Gotham Knights could be making its way to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This intriguing possibility stems from a game developer's resume, as highlighted by YouTuber Doctre81 on January 5, 2025.

The resume, belonging to a former QLOC employee (2018-2023), lists several notable titles including Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. However, the inclusion of Gotham Knights, specifically mentioning two "unreleased platforms," has sparked considerable interest.

While one platform could potentially be the original Nintendo Switch (due to a now-removed ESRB rating), the game's performance issues on more powerful consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S cast doubt on this. The second unreleased platform strongly hints at the Nintendo Switch 2.

It's crucial to remember that this is purely speculation. Neither Warner Bros. Games nor Nintendo have made any official announcements.

Past Hints and the ESRB Rating

Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights briefly received an ESRB rating for the original Nintendo Switch, fueling speculation of a release. This rating, however, has since been removed from the ESRB website. While it didn't materialize for the original Switch, the past rating, coupled with the recent YouTube report, adds weight to the Switch 2 possibility.

Nintendo Switch 2: Backwards Compatibility and Official Announcements

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, in a May 7, 2024, tweet, promised further details on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year," ending March 2025. He later confirmed backwards compatibility with the original Switch, stating that "Nintendo Switch software" and "Nintendo Switch Online" will be supported. The use of physical cartridges remains unconfirmed.
