Civ 7 Devs Consider Bringing Back Past Civilizations and Their Leaders

There's still hope for Gandhi to grace Civilization 7 as a leader. This revelation came during an IGN interview with Civ 7 lead designer Ed Beach on February 13, 2025. Beach suggested that while Gandhi might not be part of the initial release, fans could see him return in a future DLC.

In the interview, Beach elaborated on the decision to exclude certain civilizations and leaders from Civ 7. "We haven't forgotten about anybody who's been in our game before," Beach stated. "There's a lot of discussion about where Great Britain or England is, and why they aren't in our game."

The primary reason for not including Britain or India in the initial release of Civ 7 was the need to make room for new and exciting civilizations. "There are just too many popular choices, and we always want to introduce a few fresh ones that sound really new and exciting to people," Beach explained. "So, some things are getting left behind, but we're always looking at the big picture, considering when to bring leaders or civilizations back into the fold. So, there's hope for Gandhi, yet."

Given the extensive list of DLCs released for Civilization 6, it's reasonable to anticipate that Gandhi will eventually find his way into Civilization 7. However, the exact timeline for his return remains uncertain at this point.
