GAMM Is the Biggest Game Museum in Italy Where You Can Share Pieces of Game History

Rome's newest and largest video game museum, GAMM (Game Museum), has officially opened its doors to the public! Situated in the vibrant Piazza della Repubblica, this exciting new attraction is the creation of Marco Accordi Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus.

Rickards, a passionate advocate for preserving and celebrating video game history, describes GAMM as an immersive journey blending historical context, technological innovation, and interactive gameplay exploration. GAMM builds upon the legacy of Vigamus, another successful Rome-based gaming museum that has welcomed over two million visitors since 2012.

This expansive museum, covering 700 square meters across two floors, is organized into three captivating thematic sections. Before we delve into the details, take a peek at what awaits you!

GAMM features three distinct areas:

  • GAMMDOME: A dynamic digital playground offering interactive exhibits alongside authentic gaming artifacts, including consoles and donated memorabilia. The exhibits are designed around the 4 E Concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.

  • Path of Arcadia (PARC): Step back in time to the golden age of arcade games! Relive the classics from the late 1970s through the 1980s, with a touch of early 1990s nostalgia.

  • Historical Playground (HIP): This section delves into the mechanics of game design, exploring gameplay structures, interaction mechanics, and design principles. It's like getting a behind-the-scenes look at the evolution of gaming.
