Gamers Ready to Spend $100 on GTA 6: Are You?

by Natalie May 13,2025

In a recent statement, analyst Matthew Ball suggested that setting new price points for AAA games could potentially save the gaming industry. Specifically, he pointed out that if Rockstar and Take-Two were to price their games at $100, it could set a precedent for other publishers. This sparked a debate among gamers, particularly about the willingness to pay $100 for the entry-level edition of Grand Theft Auto 6.

Surprisingly, a significant number of players are open to this idea. A survey conducted among nearly 7,000 respondents revealed that over one-third are willing to pay the higher price for the basic version of Rockstar's new sandbox game. This is noteworthy, especially considering that Ubisoft has already started pushing for extended versions of their games at higher price points.

Matthew Ball's statement quickly gained traction online, highlighting the potential impact of a $100 price tag on the industry. He believes that if Rockstar and Take-Two lead the way, other companies might follow suit.

Rockstar has announced that Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online will receive updates in 2025, aligning the PC version with the PS5 and Xbox Series versions. While details are sparse, it's expected that these updates will go beyond mere visual enhancements.

Currently exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series users, the GTA+ subscription might soon be extended to PC gamers. Additionally, certain features of the console version of Grand Theft Auto Online, such as Hao's exclusive car modifications that allow for extreme speed boosts, are not yet available on PC. There is speculation that these turbo-tuning options could become available on PC in the near future.
