After the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, several CD Projekt RED experts, including some key figures behind The Blood of Dawnwalker, chose to pursue independent ventures.

Recently unveiled, The Blood of Dawnwalker is the brainchild of Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a veteran of CD Projekt RED.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a key figure in the project, explained his departure from CDPR: He and his friends sought to explore new creative avenues within the RPG genre, developing and expanding upon established rules. Their innovative ideas proved challenging to implement within a larger corporation, particularly concerning the development of new intellectual property. This led them to establish Rebel Wolves, recognizing the inherent risk in pursuing such novel solutions. Tomaszkiewicz highlighted the advantages of a smaller team, emphasizing improved communication, simpler vision alignment, and a stronger sense of creative collaboration. This fosters a more dynamic environment where innovative ideas can thrive.
