"Back to the Future Writer: No Prequels, Spinoffs, or Sequels Ever"
The iconic "Back to the Future" franchise will not see any new additions, insists screenwriter Bob Gale. Amid swirling rumors fueled by the success of the "Cobra Kai" series, which revived the "Karate Kid" saga, Gale firmly shut down any speculation about a "Back to the Future" TV series or any other form of continuation.
"I don't know why they keep talking about that!" Gale exclaimed in an interview with People. "I mean, do they think that if they say it enough times, we're going to actually do it?" He reiterated a resolute stance against any future projects, emphasizing, "Never" to a "Back to the Future 4," "Never" to a prequel, and "Never" to a spinoff. Gale underscored the trilogy's completeness, quoting director Robert Zemeckis: "It's perfect enough."

While Gale's sentiments are strong, the power of Hollywood could theoretically override such objections. However, any revival would require the approval of executive producer Steven Spielberg, who Gale believes is unlikely to support it. "If the juggernaut of corporate America or corporate international mishigas says, 'If you don't agree to this, we're going to kill your children,' alright, well, no, we don't want our children killed,'" Gale humorously remarked, highlighting the extreme measures it would take to change their minds.
Gale also praised Spielberg's respect for their decision, noting, "Steven, just like Steven won't allow another E.T., he totally respects the fact that we don't want any more Back to the Future. He gets it and always stood behind that. And thank you, Steven."
This stance aligns with Gale's previous responses to similar inquiries. In February, he bluntly told fans hoping for a "Back to the Future 4," "People always say, 'When are you going to do Back to the Future 4?' And we say, 'F\*\*k you.'"
