Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed

A new trailer from Bandai Namco showcases the gameplay and significant upgrades in Freedom Wars Remastered. This action RPG, initially a PlayStation Vita exclusive, now arrives on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC on January 10th. The game features enhanced visuals, balanced gameplay adjustments, a new difficulty mode, and updated features, all built upon its core loop of battling massive mechanical creatures called Abductors.

The trailer opens with the protagonist, a "Sinner" condemned for the crime of being born, navigating a resource-depleted dystopian world. Players undertake missions for their Panopticon (city-state), ranging from citizen rescue and Abductor elimination to capturing control systems. These missions can be tackled solo or cooperatively online.

Freedom Wars Remastered's visual enhancements are a key highlight. PS5 and PC players will experience 4K (2160p) resolution at 60 FPS, while PS4 offers 1080p at 60 FPS, and the Switch version runs at 1080p but at 30 FPS. Beyond visuals, gameplay is faster-paced due to improved mechanics and increased movement speed, along with the ability to cancel weapon attacks.

The crafting and upgrade systems receive a substantial overhaul. A more intuitive interface and the ability to freely attach and detach modules are significant improvements. A new module synthesis feature allows players to enhance modules using resources gained from rescuing citizens. Finally, a challenging "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode caters to seasoned players, and all original customization DLC from the PS Vita release is included.

In essence, Freedom Wars Remastered offers a refined and enhanced experience, retaining the core gameplay loop of its predecessor while significantly improving graphics, speed, and customization options. Freedom Wars Remastered Trailer Screenshot
