Firaxis to Revamp Civilization 7 Amid Criticism

Following a less-than-stellar launch, the developers of Civilization 7 have committed to enhancing the game, focusing particularly on improving the user interface and gameplay mechanics. Firaxis Games has acknowledged the issues and is actively working on solutions to address them.

Currently, the game holds a 47% positive rating on Steam. Players have expressed dissatisfaction not with the game's mechanics, but rather with the simplified interface, missing features, and a lack of content. In response, Firaxis has prioritized interface enhancements, promising to improve map readability, refine menus, and make the overall interface more intuitive.

The developers plan to add:

  • The ability to form teams in multiplayer mode
  • New map types
  • Customization options, including the ability to rename religions and cities

An update, version 1.1.0, featuring balance adjustments and improvements, is scheduled for release in March. The full launch of Civilization 7 is set for February 11.

Many reviewers have noted that the game was released prematurely and requires significant improvements. The $70 price point has been a focal point of criticism, as players feel it does not match the current state of the game. Fans of the series are hopeful that Firaxis will take their feedback seriously and release updates that rectify the current issues.

Enthusiasts of the Civilization franchise are eager for Civilization 7 to uphold the series' tradition of excellence and meticulous detail. However, they believe this can only be achieved with further enhancements to the game as it stands now.
