Extas1s, a reputed insider, claims that Playground Games is grappling with the ForzaTech engine, originally designed for racing games, which is proving inadequate for an open-world RPG. Early gameplay versions were reportedly "not particularly engaging," necessitating a major overhaul of game mechanics and pacing adjustments.

Another insider, HeisenbergFX4, echoes these concerns, indicating that Fable is far from complete, raising doubts about meeting the 2026 deadline.
