Elden Ring Gamer Vows Daily Battle Until DLC Release

An Elden Ring player, chickensandwich420, has embarked on an ambitious challenge: defeating the notoriously difficult boss, Messmer the Impaler, daily until the release of the upcoming spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign. This self-imposed marathon began December 16, 2024, and involves using a different weapon each time, achieving a flawless victory (no hits taken) on NG+7.

Initially planning a broader FromSoftware boss challenge, chickensandwich420 opted for this focused endeavor to balance his university studies. Messmer, the second antagonist from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is known for his extreme difficulty, often requiring numerous attempts even for highly skilled players.

The challenge, however, has a June deadline. Should Nightreign not launch by then, chickensandwich420 will transition to other games. This sets a limit of roughly 160 Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's reached day 23.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays. Whether chickensandwich420 completes his challenge before Nightreign's release remains to be seen.
